Troegs Brewing Night @ FWOT March 9, 2011

Posted: February 4th, 2011

Wednesday March 9, 201 From 7:30 – 10:00
Please join us for a Special Night with Nick Johnson from Troegs Brewing Co. of Harrisburg, PA

We will have several of Troegs’ wonderful beers on tap including:
Mad Elf
Nugget Nectar
Scratch 42
Dreamweaver Wheat

Here are the details for Scratch #42:
SCRATCH #42-2011
O.G.: 15.4
ABV: 7%
Malt: Pils, Munich, Crystal, Special B
IBU: 19
Hops: Tradition
Yeast: Mad Elf
Juju: Raspberries, Cacao nibs, vanilla beans
Code: Razz-ma-dizzle

For Scratch #42-2011 we worked with our friends at Scharffen Berger Chocolate to create another exploration in cacoa nibs. The cacao nibs are combined with raspberries, Belgian yeast and vanilla beans to blend unorthodox brewing ingredients into a fruity, delicious beer.

Scratch #42 pours a brilliant ruby color with wisps of an off-white head and restrained carbonation. A huge raspberry aroma greets the nose and makes up the dominant flavor of the beer. A hint of spice is contributed by the Belgian Chimay yeast, while the addition of chocolate nibs in the aging tank gives a cocoa powder note on the finish. A small portion of vanilla beans offer sweetness to offset the tart raspberry flavor and round out the beer’s mouthfeel.

Experimenting with fruit and chocolate in the brewing process has been a blast for us, and we hope you enjoy the ‘fruits’ of our labor. Rock on Ticeman!

It’s also $ .35 Wing Night in the Taproom and we’ll be featuring our special Mad Elf Wing Sauce.

Yards Brewing Night @ FWOT 9/15/10

Posted: August 13th, 2010

Our next Keep the Pint Night will be with Philadelphia’s Own Yards Brewing Company on Wednesday September 15, 2010 from 7:30 – 9:30

All of the votes have been tallied and the most popular beers were Philadelphia Pale Ale and Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale.  Thanks to everyone for their votes.

Please join us for this Keep the Pint Glass event featuring $4. Yards Drafts.  Rick Anstotz from Yards Brewing will be here for this pay as you go event.

Featured Pours:

Yards Philadelphia Pale Ale: Not to be boastful, but we honestly believe that all other ales pale in comparison to this one. Brewed with pilsner malt, Philadelphia Pale Ale is crisp and hoppy, bursting with citrus flavors and aromas.

Philadelphia Pale Ale was named one of the best Pale Ales in the country by the New York Times.

ABV 4.6%

Yards Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale: All beers are not created equal.

While Thomas Jefferson spent much of his time in Philadelphia drafting, editing, revising, and re-editing the Declaration of Independence, he longed to be home in Monticello, where twice a year his wife Martha would brew up one of his favorite beverages — beer.

Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale™ is a strong golden ale, based on Jefferson’s original recipe, which included ingredients specified and grown on his Virginia estate.

Enjoy a taste of history, courtesy of Yards Brewing Company, Philadelphia’s premier brewer and bottler.

ABV 8.0%
